Men’s T20 Blast: Tristan Stubbs helps Hunts win against Essex

There were two distinct sections to Hampshire’s innings. A disjointed half where every run had to be fought for and then another, where fun was the operative word.

After coming in, James Vince hit two superb fours in the middle before he and opening partner Toby Albert pulled Charlie Bennett, who bowled better than his 2-44 suggested.

Tom Perst also got out but Weatherly and Stubbs put on a 64-run stand to put Hampshire in the right direction for some death over destruction.

When Weatherly got long-on, Stubbs and Cartwright put on 84 off the last 37 balls.

Stubbs smashed Luke Benkenstein for a pair of sixes to start a splash of 70 in the last four overs.

Uan Mulder was next in the firing line as Cartwright took center stage before reaching 200 in 22 overs – an unlikely 80-3 at the halfway point.
