Morocco sweeps Burundi in secret confrontation.

The confrontation was behind the walls

The Moroccan national team continued its strong preparation for the 2026 World Cup finals with a crushing victory over its counterpart Burundi (5-0) in a friendly match hosted at the Mohammed VI Football Complex.

Offensive explosion in the second half

The matchup saw a dramatic turnaround after a scoreless first half as the Atlas Lions offensive line exploded in the second half with 5 straight goals.

The goals were shared by three players: Ayub Al Kaabi (two goals), Sufyan Bin Jadida (two goals) and Tawfiq Bin Al Tayeb.

Complete tactical secrecy

The meeting was held behind closed doors, at the request of technical director Mohamed Wehbe, to maintain tactical secrecy and allow testing of various systems and plans without revealing them to potential competitors.

Stay tuned for the final list to be released

Webe’s press conference is scheduled for this evening, during which he will announce the final composition of the qualifying round of the World Championship.

The national team is set to play two more friendly matches as part of the preparation program, the first against Madagascar on Tuesday, June 2 at the Rabat Stadium, and the second against Norway on Sunday, June 7 in New Jersey, USA.

Notably, Morocco are in Group Three of the World Cup finals alongside arch-rivals Brazil, Scotland and Haiti in a group that promises fierce competition for the two qualification spots.
