Barcelona full-back Joao Cancelo, on loan from Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal, has posted a cryptic message on social media in which he spoke about himself in the third person, making it clear he wants to stay at the Catalan club.

Unexpected success

Cancelo joined Barcelona in the last winter transfer window and became a regular at left-back despite playing with a weaker foot.

Negotiations are currently underway between Barcelona and Al Hilal to reach a final agreement, as the Catalan club tried to sign the player for free by terminating his contract, but Al Hilal refused and demanded no less than 10 million euros.

Willingness to sacrifice

Catalan publication Sport have indicated that the player is willing to forego any financial compensation and accept a pay cut to stay at the Camp Nou before leaving Benfica, the club he joined through.
