“Barcelona” makes an official move towards Joao Pedro

Barcelona are continuing their search for the best replacement for Polish forward Robert Lewandowski, who announced he will leave the Camp Nou at the end of the current season to bolster their attack next season.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan club have shortlisted three prominent forwards to replace the Polish striker: Julian Alvarez (26, Atletico Madrid) andJoao Pedro (24 years old, Chelsea)and Harry Kane (32 years old, “Bayern”).

The Catalan newspaper reports that Barcelona sporting director Deco has traveled to London, accompanied by his assistant Bojan Krkic and the club’s head of scouting, Joao Amaral, to continue the deal with Joao Pedro.

This is not the first time that Deco has traveled to London to follow the Chelsea striker. In fact, Barcelona’s sporting director, who had struggled to sign Julián Alvarez due to pressure from PSG, had previously visited London to watch the Brazilian striker in person for the Blues.

It was during the FA Cup final against Manchester City on May 16, which Chelsea lost 0-1, that Barcelona could get the Brazilian striker for a lower price than Julian Alvarez.

In fact, Barcelona estimate that Joao Pedro could pay just over €70 million, although Chelsea have confirmed that the Brazilian is not for sale, according to reports in the English press.

The Catalan publication have questioned Chelsea’s ability to keep hold of Joao Pedro after they failed to qualify for any European competitions next season.
