Turki Al-Sheikh presents an offer to buy an English club

Will the negotiations succeed?

The English press reports that Turki Al-Sheikh, the head of the Saudi Arabian Entertainment Authority, is interested in buying a club in England at the next stage.

In recent months, there have been many rumors that Al-Sheikh intends to buy the English club “Bristol City”, while the head of the Entertainment Authority has denied this news.

However, according to the British newspaper The Times, Turki Al-Sheikh has now made an offer to buy “Derby County”, which plays in the English Championship League.

It is understood that both Football’s independent governing body and the EFL are aware of the approach but have not commented on it.

In turn, British newspaper The Sun reported that Al-Sheikh, 44, would have to convince football’s independent governing body that the source of funding for any purchase was separate from the Gulf state’s public investment fund.

The Public Investment Fund is an investment vehicle owned by Newcastle United and the four largest clubs in the Saudi Arabian Professional League, including: Al-Nasr Club, where Cristiano Ronaldo plays.
