One activist says she was dragged, raped and beaten while in custody by Israeli authorities.

One activist arrived in Melbourne on Sunday evening while others arrived in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane on Monday.

Juliet Lamont, an Australian activist and filmmaker, told Reuters on Monday that she was dragged, groped and beaten during her arrest.

“That was just the beginning of four days of absolute hell. I’ve looked into the eyes of soulless people all over the universe, and nothing has come back. These people need to be stopped,” Lamont said.

Another Australian activist, Sam Woripa Watson, said he suffered broken ribs and cuts and bruises to his body. Watson also said he saw activists Tasered and shot with rubber bullets and said grenades were thrown at them.

Eleven Australians were among 430 volunteers on 50 boats that were taken into international waters last week by the Israeli military in an attempt to stop the flotilla from delivering aid to the Gaza Strip. The flotilla included people from 40 countries.

Organizers of the aid flotilla said the activists, who were abducted in international waters, had been tortured while in Israeli custody, including about 15 who reported being raped or raped.

Meanwhile, a regional official in Malaysia said his country is planning to open legal proceedings against Israel for the torture of Malaysian freedom fighters when lawyers finish gathering information and corroborating evidence, local media reported on Monday.

“We will not be silent. We will not stop. While the legal team is collecting all the documents related to violations of international law, they (participants) were arrested several times. They were tortured,” Amirudin Shari, the prime minister of the Malaysian state of Selangor, said at a ceremony to welcome the protesters of the flotilla Lumpu International Airport in Kuala.

“We will bring this to the international court. We will continue to pressure the diplomats, and we will travel through Malaysia,” he said.

Right-wing Israeli Defense Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir last week posted a video of himself cheering as activists from the flotilla knelt down, blindfolded and handcuffed, in the port of Ashdod.

The images sparked international outrage as France announced it was banning Ben-Gvir from entering the country.

On Sunday, the foreign ministers of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Pakistan, Egypt and Turkey condemned what they called “horrific, disgusting and unacceptable” actions by Ben-Gvir against the activists.

In a joint statement, they said Ben-Gvir’s “deliberate humiliation” of detainees violates Israel’s obligations under international humanitarian and human rights law.
