Press reports have revealed the ranking of the clubs that have qualified for the 2026-2027 Champions League ahead of next August’s draw.
“Arsenal” and “Paris Saint-Germain” will compete.clinched the Champions League title in Budapest next Saturday, but next season’s competition is already starting to take shape as teams reveal their classification.
The Premier League will have five representatives in next season’s competition, with Arsenal joining Manchester City, Manchester United, Aston Villa and Liverpool.
The performances of English clubs in Europe this season have seen the Premier League take one of the European performance spots and Spain’s La Liga the other.
Liverpool secured an extra place in the Premier League and Arne Slott’s side confirmed their fifth place in the top flight on the final day.
If they were to pip Aston Villa into fourth, the Premier League would secure sixth thanks to Villa’s Europa League victory last week.
According to the Daily Mail, the qualifying teams will be placed in qualifying groups based on UEFA club deals for the league stage draw of 36 qualifying teams.
Clubs will be required to play two matches, one home and away, against teams from each of the four groups.
Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal will be placed at the top thanks to their impressive performances in European competitions over the last five seasons.
As teams from the same country cannot play each other in the league stage, they will almost certainly face two Bayern Munichs, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Milan, Barcelona or Atlético.
“Aston Villa” and “Manchester United” will appear in the second position of the draw.
Borussia Dortmund, Roma, Sporting Lisbon, Porto, Club Brugge, Real Betis and PSV Eindhoven should join the second division.
Seven of the nine teams have already been decided in the third tier, with Feyenoord, Lille, Napoli, Leipzig, Villarreal, Shakhtar Donetsk and Galatasaray securing their places in the tournament.
There are seven places left in next season’s competition during the qualifying rounds, two of which are placed in Tier 3 and the rest in Tier 4.
Slavia Prague, Stuttgart, Como and Lens have already secured their place in next season’s Champions League and will be in Pot 4.
