Kimi Antonelli – 8.5/10
He has shown that he is not afraid to try and fight to the bitter end. Punchy on the radio and you could argue if sometimes he goes a little too far. Either way, he walked away from Canada with his fourth consecutive Grand Prix win and a 43-point lead in the championship.
Lewis Hamilton – 8/10
Overtook Ferrari team-mate Charles Leclerc. Hamilton is the happiest, all smiles and best we’ve seen over the weekend so far. Excellent battle with Max Verstappen and second was the best he could have hoped for.
Max Verstappen 7/10
Not the follow-up weekend that we thought would happen after Miami but, nevertheless, to take the first podium of the year and put up a great fight with Hamilton, getting him points on the board.
Charles Leclerc – 6/10
A fairly decent recovery for Sunday’s race but, beyond that, looked ill at ease and still found himself catching moments of his car off the race wall. This weekend has been very much put in Hamilton’s shadow.
Isaac Hazor – 6/10
Canada is much better than Miami. Red Bull is level with team-mate Verstappen in qualifying, but some silly mistakes could cost him a race penalty he could do without. In the end, it didn’t really cost him much, but he wasn’t in a podium fight with Verstappen.
Franco Colapinto – 8/10
Following up his best weekend in Miami with an even better weekend. It’s practically a win for Alpine, certainly in midfield. Colapinto has become even more remarkable since missing all of Friday’s practice.
Liam Lawson – 7/10
Great comeback from a disastrous Friday for the Kiwis and picked up important points. Now scored in four of the first five rounds.
Pierre Gasly – 5/10
Picked up an extra point for a nice drive on Sunday points but, overall, a poor weekend from the Frenchman. Not happy with the car. He seems to have lost some of his mojo after starting so brilliantly and has now been beaten by Alpine team-mate Colapinto for two consecutive weekends.
Carlos Sainz – 6/10
Solid, keeping the car together and picking up points as they become available to him. Giving Williams something to smile about from the weekend.
Oliver Biermann – 6/10
Haas did not upgrade his choice directly and overall a quiet weekend. Keeping it clear for the race to pick up a crucial point, his first since China.
Oscar Piastre 6/10
Another tough weekend, very fast and not much between him and McLaren teammate Norris, but often not far behind. Apparently the middleman wasn’t happy with the tire choice and perhaps it fueled frustration with a silly incident with Williams’ Alex Albon.
Nico Hulkenberg – 6/10
A quick glance at a lap and it was unlucky to miss a top-10 start for both the sprint and grand prix. Speed in the pit lane, however, is unnecessary and beyond that, there are no cars for points at the moment
Gabriel Bortoletto – 5/10
Another anonymous weekend from the Brazilian. Looked quick in qualifying but Audi is not quite in the points fight right now.
Esteban Ocon – 5/10
Haas looked better against teammate Biermann in the first half of the weekend. Losing his front wing in a curious incident in practice was an easy fix, but was again outplayed by Beerman on Sunday where the midfield outliers’ points were up for grabs.
Lance Stroll – 5/10
There is no one-lap pace required to pass the five-point mark. No less did many others deserve.
Valtteri Bottas – 3/10
Both qualifiers couldn’t get it together and finished last runners-up in Sunday’s race. The points may not be up for grabs just yet but a trend is slowly starting to form here and it favors his Cadillac teammate Sergio Perez.
Sergio Perez – 7/10
I’m really impressed with Checo so far. He is much more comfortable than Bottas and has beaten the Finn comprehensively in the past two races. Shame retired in his first grand prix of the year due to suspension failure.
Lando Norris 7/10
Team-mate Piastrie had the edge all weekend. The intermediate tire looked brilliant at the start light out but the wrong call in the end. A decent recovery drive on Sunday could have been had it not been for the reliability failure.
George Russell 8.5/10
Certainly showed that Canada is more than his choice in Miami but was never clear and in control over his Mercedes team-mate Antonelli. Shows he was good for the fight, and it’s a shame we were robbed of what could have been in the race.
Fernando Alonso – 6/10
After sprint qualifying heroics, it all unraveled quickly for the Aston Martin driver. A rare mistake saw him fly into the wall at turn three during sprint qualifying and then retire with seat problems in the Grand Prix.
Alex Albon – 5/10
Probably the unluckiest weekend for a driver I can remember. The groundhog incident ruined much of his weekend, and then the innocent victim of Piastre’s dive from inside the hairpin on Sunday.
Arvid Lindblad – 8/10
A stellar weekend for the British Racing Bulls rookie, his best since Australia. Hard to see him not starting the race with a reliability issue. Surely he would have been in the mix for a sixth-place finish.
