Bahrain jails nine people for life for collaborating with Iran’s IRGC | Espionage news

The sanctions came amid a major crackdown by Bahraini authorities on people accused of collaborating with Tehran.

Bahrain has ordered nine people to be jailed for what authorities say are “terrorist” ties to Iran. Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

Two other suspects were jailed for three years each after being found guilty of collaborating with the IRGC in what prosecutors called “terror and espionage”, state media reported on Sunday.

The penalties were awarded in extra time to break and Bahraini authorities on people accused of collaborating with Tehran. The crackdown followed Iran’s attack on Bahrain after the United States and Israel launched their war on Iran in late February. Iran began attacking all of its Gulf neighbors in response, saying it was targeting American interests, including weapons.

Prosecutors said some of the accused had carved important and strategic positions in Bahrain on behalf of the IRGC. Others were accused of facilitating the transfer of money from Iran to Bahrain, including through cryptocurrency transactions, to support the project. Officials also said that people in the country were hired to support some of the targets.

Bahrain began arresting people with alleged links to Iran in March, shortly after the war began.

Earlier this month, authorities arrested another 41 people.

Within two weeks, more than 60 people were there to undress Their citizenship for supporting Iran’s invasion of Bahrain and “contact with foreign organizations”.

The London-based Bahrain Institute for Rights and Democracy said the move was “dangerous” and violated international law.

Other Gulf countries have also arrested people accused of collaborating with Iran. Last month, the United Arab Emirates said it had dismantled a group it believed wanted to carry out what officials said was a “terrorist” group.

Bahrain is home to a large Shia population. Many of its members have been criticizing the government for restricting politics and the economy. The government refuses to discriminate against Shia citizens, saying that Iran is causing unrest in the country.
