Unparalleled confidence in the Blues star
“Chelsea” captain Rhys James fully trusted one of the stars of the London team, to the extent that he is a “one-time talent”.
The Blues are preparing for the final match of the 2025-2026 EPL season tomorrow, Sunday, against Sunderland.
Rhys James has described young striker Estevao as a generational talent, praising his maturity, decision-making ability and rapid development after an impressive first season at Stamford Bridge.
Estevao, who joined Chelsea from Palmeiras in 2024 in a deal worth up to £51.4m, has already made a strong impression in his first season in England, scoring eight goals and providing four assists in 36 appearances in all competitions.

Although his season ended early due to the Grade 4 hamstring injury he suffered against Manchester United last month, James believes the Brazilian’s impact has already set him apart.
The captain of “Blues” confirmed in a conversation with Sky Sports. “Not many people come along and you can say one of them is a unique player, but when you see him, you know him and I believe he is.”
He continued. “I think Estevao, for his age, is much more mature than he should be on the field. His thinking and his decisions are top notch.”
The injury ruled Estevao out for the rest of the season and the upcoming World Cup, although Chelsea are optimistic he can return in time for pre-season preparations and the summer tour of Australia and Asia.
