Daisy Jeans career-best leads Glamorgan to a big win over Derbyshire

Glamorgan went into the game on the back of a convincing 65-run win at Gloucestershire, while Derbyshire also recorded a six-wicket win over Sussex.

There were two changes for both sides as Bethan Ellis and Amy Wheeler were drafted in for Glamorgan, while Prisha Bedi and Francesca Clark dropped out for the visitors.

On a scorching afternoon at Sophia Gardens, Jeans produced another dominant display as he and Bethan Ellis helped Glamorgan race to 60-1 after the powerplay.

Jeans hit 14 boundaries and helped Glamorgan survive a mid-innings where four wickets fell for eight runs, including two to Prisha Bedi.

Derbyshire finally got him out in the last over to mark the first of all-rounder Nolling-Davies’ hat-trick.

Georgia Parfitt and Charlotte Lambert also fell to the impressive Knolling-Davies while Gemma Porter remained unbeaten on 21 as Glamorgan set a reasonable target of 168 to beat Derbyshire.

Despite 14 runs in a promising first over, Derbyshire fell to just 41-4 in the powerplay as the away side failed to get going with the bat.

Cobb produced a superb bowling display as he took three wickets for just 10 runs as the home side turned the screw in the second innings.

In an anti-climactic over, Derbyshire captain Adriana Davies was ruled out through injury as they were bowled out for 75 in 14.3 overs.

Glamorgan’s Daisy Jeans told BBC Sport Wales: “We set ourselves up with really good totals to defend with the ball.

“We tried to go hard from the start and use the hard ball in the powerplay, then as the ball softened it was looking for more spin (strike).

“It feels good (to set a career best), having a good day and we’re very happy, we’ll enjoy the wins when they come.

“Individual performances help towards professional contracts, but for now we are trying to win as a team.”
