Fabio Capello, the former coach of Real Madrid, made a serious attack on Pep Guardiola because of the style of play he has adopted in recent years.
Pep Guardiola announced his departure from Manchester City yesterday, Friday, after 10 years at the club, during which he won 20 trophies.
At the launch of the 100 best players in the world at the European Golden Boy Awards, Capello slammed Guardiola.
The Defense Central network published the statements of the Italian coach, where he said: “Guardiola’s current destroyed us. We tried to simulate this system with the unknown play style of the players without teaching them defense.”
He continued. “The same thing happens with goalkeepers. They must first learn to block shots and not kick. For me, possession and Guardiola make my knees weak.”
He added that a change of mentality is necessary, in addition to returning to the vertical game, as is traditionally the case in Italy.
