A dramatic end to the last Rushen League season
The Saudi Roshan League Association has announced the best awards for the 2025-2026 season just 24 hours after its end.
The curtain fell on the Saudi League on Thursday as Al-Nasr won the title after a seven-year absence, defeating neighbors and arch-rivals Al-Hilal, who failed to win the title for the second season in a row.
About 24 hours after the end of the season, the Saudi Arabian league revealed the winners of the top awards controlled by the Al Nasr club, without the participation of Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo.
Fellow Portuguese Joao Felix, Ronaldo’s Al-Nasr team-mate, won the Rushen League Player of the Year award last season after his standout performances helped his side to the title.
In the last round of the Saudi League, Felix participated in 33 matches with the Al-Nasr team, during which he scored 33 goals, an average of one goal per game, of which he scored 20 goals and made 13 assists.
Although he didn’t quite finish the race for top goalscorer, those contributions saw the Portuguese star become the top scorer in the Rushen League last season.
Portuguese Jorge Jesus, the coach of the Al-Nasrit Rushen League, was also the best coach of the last season.
Jesus led the capital team in 34 games, during which he won 28 and only two draws, while losing 4 games.
Under the leadership of the Portuguese coach, Al-Nasr won the Saudi League title after a 7-year absence. It was also the strongest attacking team, scoring 91 goals, and the third strongest defensive line, conceding 28 goals.
As for Saudi Arabia’s best player, the award went to Al-Qadisiya club midfielder Musab Al-Jaweer, who contributed to his team’s fourth-place finish.
In the last season of the Rushen League, the 23-year-old football player participated in 31 matches with Al-Qadisiya, during which he scored 17 goals: 6 goals and 11 assists.
This season marks the second consecutive season that Al-Jaweer has won the Roshan League Individual Award, after he was crowned the Most Promising Player award last season for his performances with Al-Shabaab Club.
The Most Promising Player award this season went to Abdulaziz Al-Elawa, a winger from Al-Khulood who contributed a lot to see his team reach the final match of the Guardian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup.
In the Saudi League, the former player of Al-Nasr participated in 33 matches as part of the Al-Khulud team, during which he managed to score 4 goals and make two assists.
As for the Golden Boot award, it went to Mexican Julian Quinones, the star of Al-Qadisiya, who won the Saudi League top scorer title thanks to his historic hat-trick against Al-Ittihad in the last round.
Quinones is alone at the top with 33 goals, one more than “Al Ahly” striker Ivan Toni of England, who scored 32 goals.
The Mexican star has managed to wrest the award from Al-Nasri captain Cristiano Ronaldo, who has held it for the past two seasons, but finished third this season with 28 goals.
On the other hand, Senegalese Edouard Mendy, Al Ahly’s goalkeeper, won the Golden Glove award as the best goalkeeper in the Rushen League last season.
Mendy managed to keep a clean sheet in 14 of the 26 matches he participated in, and in the remaining 12 matches he conceded 18 goals.
