Ice Hockey World Championships: Great Britain lose 4-0 to Finland despite Matt Robson’s heroics

Goaltender Matt Robson produced a brilliant display but could not prevent Great Britain from falling 4-0 to Finland at the Ice Hockey World Championships.

Finland opened the scoring in the first minute when Ville Heinola blasted home from the left point, but Robson kept the opposition in check for the rest of the period.

Heinola added a second midway through the game after Robson briefly lost his stick before Mikko Lehtonen scored Finland’s third.

Coventry Blaze tender Robson, 30, continued to frustrate Finland with some excellent stops, including a break from Sakari Manninen.

Henri Jokiharju scored late in the third period as Finland secured its fifth straight tournament win.

GB are winless in five games, including matches against Latvia and Germany on May 24 and 25, and are bottom of Group A.
