Manchester United have completed their first summer signings

Manchester United are close to completing a deal for Atalanta midfielder Ederson, which could be worth up to €50 million, to compensate for the departure of Casemiro.

According to the Sport Mediaset network and Italian newspapers, Manchester United are set to complete the deal for 26-year-old Ederson, with the Italian outlet insisting that the deal is done and that the player will leave this summer for €50m including bonuses.

While the Spanish newspaper “AS” added that an offer worth 45 million euros was presented on Friday (without bonuses), noting that there is still no final agreement with the player, who will sign a 5-year contract, but there are still details related to wages, bonuses and commissions.

Things are expected to heat up next week with Atalanta keen to sell him quickly and, barring any unforeseen circumstances, Ederson will wear the famous red shirt in the 2026-2027 season.

Ederson, who has been with Atalanta since 2022, has made 41 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring three goals and providing two assists, and his impact and contribution to games is seen as invaluable, which has convinced the Old Trafford board to move for him.

The move comes as part of Manchester United’s preparations for the upcoming summer transfer window, which has many needs in midfield, especially after the out-of-contract departure of Casemiro, who is expected to join Inter Miami under Lionel Messi in the American Football League.

Manchester United have several other options to replace the Brazilian, including Aurelien Chuamini (Real Madrid), Elliott Anderson (Nottingham Forest), Matthew Fernandez (West Ham), Carlos Paleba (Brighton) and Adam Wharton (Crystal Palace), but Ederson’s path seems more open.

Atletico Madrid were also among the clubs interested in the Brazilian, but United appear to have decided the race in their favour.
