Wijnaldum informs the management of the agreement about the decision to leave
The papers are moving behind the scenes at the Al-Ettifaq club amid official silence and anticipation of what the outcome will be in the coming days as press reports reveal that a chapter in the relationship between Fares Al-Dahna and his first star is coming to an end.
Saudi newspaper Al-Youm reports that Dutch specialist Georginio Wijnaldum has informed the management of Al-Etifaq of his decision to leave the club at the end of the 2025/2026 season, following a three-season journey following his arrival from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2023/2024.
The newspaper noted that the English Premier League is a possible goal for the 35-year-old player next season, without revealing the identity of the club with which he is negotiating.
In the last 2025/2026 season, Wijnaldum was one of the most popular names in the Al-Etifaq team, where he participated in 34 matches with a total of 3022 playing minutes, during which he scored 17 goals and provided 6 assists for his teammates, making him an influential element of the team’s midfield.
Wijnaldum spent many seasons in the English Premier League, starting with Newcastle, then Liverpool, where he played for 6 seasons before moving to PSG, from there on loan to Roma, and then a contract in Saudi Arabia.
