“The last day in my house”. Carvajal ignites social media with emotional message

Real Madrid captain Dani Carvajal will play his final game for Real on Saturday night against Athletic Bilbao at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in the Spanish league, turning the page on more than two decades.

After the last training session at the “Valdebebas” complex, Carvajal wrote on his Instagram page: “Today I said goodbye to the place where I grew up and fought to achieve my dreams. We’ll meet again in a different dress,” with the post, which received a huge response from fans.

The 34-year-old right-back ends his career at Real Madrid after 451 games, having won six Champions League titles, making him one of the most famous contributors to the club’s history over the past decade.

Carvajal was loaned out to Bayer Leverkusen in 2012 and returned a year later to establish himself as a regular and a key component of the team that won three consecutive Champions League titles.

However, this season saw him plagued by recurring injuries that limited him to just 22 appearances for just 1,000 minutes.
