You can also add stations manually, which is useful if your favorite station doesn’t come up in the search. For this you need to find the link to the PLS file used by the station – this is what allows Trdo to find the station. Many Internet radio stations offer these links freely on their websites, just check the streaming links section.

If you can’t find a stream link, don’t worry: There are sites that collect them. I recommend checking it out Public Radio FanA database of public radio stations around the world, or Internet radiowhich contains an extended list of exchange links.

Left-clicking the tray icon will, by default, pause or play the current station. Right-clicking opens a pop-up window. You can change this in the settings, if you want. You can also pause or play the current station using the pause button on your keyboard, if you have one. You can’t change the station using the Next or Previous buttons, which is frustrating. (Hopefully Trdo will add this one day.)

Trdo stores the music you hear on the radio, and collects it in a playlist that you can go back to. This is great for knowing the song you heard 15 minutes ago with your hands full. There is a feature that allows you to record your favorite songs, which allows you to save a list of your favorite songs for later use.

There are also optional links to Spotify, Discogs, Apple Music, and YouTube Music channels. (You can choose which services to show in the preferences.) This is useful for discovering new music. You can put on your favorite songs during the day, and watch them later in your favorite games.

I see internet radio as a great complement to music streaming apps, not a replacement for them. Sometimes I know what I want, when I start gathering. But sometimes I don’t want to make a decision, or want to be surprised. This is where Internet radio is perfect.
