Officially… Porto announce the departure of Thiago Silva

FC Porto have announced the departure of their veteran Brazilian star Thiago Silva after just half a season since he returned to the Portuguese club last January.

Silva (41) opted to return from Brazil and play in Europe to boost his chances of representing the Seleção at the 2026 World Cup, and despite winning the Portuguese league, he… He did not have the opportunity to complete the list chosen by Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti.

As a free agent at the end of June, the Brazil international will not extend his stay in northern Portugal.

Silva leaves “Porto” after two periods in the team. During his first term in 2004, Thiago Silva played in the reserves, starting a successful football career.

During his second spell, he returned to win the Portuguese league and won his thirtieth title, having played for many of Europe’s biggest clubs such as AC Milan, PSG and Chelsea.

With the confirmation of Thiago Silva’s departure, the Portuguese club wished him all the best in the future.
