Mane and Koulibaly head Senegal’s World Cup roster… and there are wholesale absences.

Teranga Lions star-studded line-up for World Cup 2026

Senegal national team coach Pape Tiau has announced the list of the team that will participate in the 2026 World Cup, which will be held next June in the United States of America, Canada and Mexico.

The 28-man list will be reduced to 26 by the start of June, including Al Hilal defender Kalidou Koulibaly, as Thiau confirmed in a press conference that the player will be available before the tournament.

The list included the usual names, led by goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, Sadio Mane, Pape Gueye and Ismaila Sarr.

Meanwhile, a number of names were missing, notably Malang Sar, Bulai Dia, Habib Diallo, Nambales Mendi, Cheikh Sabali, Noble Mendi and Abdou Diallo.

The Senegalese team plays in the ninth group, which includes France, Iraq and Norway.

The World Cup tournament will be the Teranga Lions’ first official appearance since the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations crisis where they won the match 1-0 at home, but Morocco were later crowned champions in a legal ruling by CAF, but the case is still pending before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
