Germany have released their final squad for the 2026 World Cup, which saw the return of veteran goalkeeper Manuel Neuer after reversing his earlier decision to retire from international football.
Coach Julian Nagelsmann confirmed today, Thursday, that Neuer (40) will be in Germany’s squad for the 2026 North American World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico from June 11 to July 19.
After rumors of the Bayern keeper’s return have been circulating in the German media for the past few days, Nagelsmann has officially confirmed the matter.
Neuer announced his retirement from international football at the end of the summer of 2024 to focus on his career at Bayern Munich, with whom he recently extended his contract for another season.

The list included the usual names such as Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirz, in addition to some surprises, notably the inclusion of Mainz midfielder Nadeem Amiri, in addition to Bayern Munich playmaker Lennart Karl.
Antonio Rudiger was also included in the list, despite recent votes calling for the Real Madrid player’s removal, while Andre ter Stegen’s name was absent.
