Britain’s Crown Prince William attracted attention in the final of the European League in the “Aston Villa”-“Freiburg” match.
Today, Wednesday, “Aston Villa” broke its curse at the expense of the German club “Freiburg” (3-0) in the confrontation held in “Besiktas” park in Istanbul, winning the title of European League champion.
Aston Villa ended a long 44-year drought without winning a major European title as manager Unai Emery’s side restored the club’s continental glory by taking it to its first European title since winning the Champions League in 1982.
As the “Marca” newspaper informs, the crown prince could not hold back his tears after the first major victory of the team led by the Spanish Unai Emery.
Prince William wrote on the “X” platform: “A wonderful night… Our warmest congratulations to all the players, the squad, the coaching staff and everyone associated with the club… 44 years later we won the European title for the last time.”
After the final whistle, Prince William, who visited the Aston Villa players before the match to cheer them on, joined the celebrations and was photographed alongside Unai Emery in the tunnel with the trophy.
She was also seen singing the classic ‘Sweet Caroline’ in the stands after winning the title.
