Rashford sacrifices for Barcelona… and one hurdle

The Catalan club offers some solutions to complete the deal

Barcelona are looking to keep Marcus Rashford after German coach Hans Flick asked the Englishman to stay with the Catalan side in the new season.

and:Rashford is on loan at Barcelona this season From “Manchester United”, and the Catalan club has a final purchase point for 30 million euros.

Barcelona had virtually ruled out Rashford due to his high price, but the young options presented in recent weeks have not convinced the German coach.

Catalan newspaper Sport report that Rashford will be left to fight for a starting position, and in turn the player has shown flexibility by dropping his massive salary within Barcelona’s salary cap.

He added that a long-term contract will be agreed and Rashford has agreed to take a pay cut, but one hurdle remains, which is finding a way out of not paying Manchester United €30 million.

Manchester United’s position has been very firm in the initial negotiations and the English club will not accept a reduction in the transfer fee or a loan extension as they want to end their relationship with Rashford for good.

Manchester United believe that the agreed transfer fee of 30 million euros is less than his market value, as well as the flexibility of the payment plan, as the money will be paid over three years.

Barcelona are considering a price cut, but United are unlikely to accept it given there are offers from other clubs that would be more attractive to the club.

The Catalan newspaper noted that Manchester United’s main problem is that Rashford insists on preventing anything, as he does not want to return to the English club and is not going to accept an offer from any team other than Barcelona.

In this situation, “United” is facing a real dilemma, despite the desire to make the right decision. It is expected that the two clubs will come to an agreement, and this will be possible only through a deal that satisfies both parties.

A reduction in the final transfer fee is one possibility, but another option that would be highly beneficial to Barcelona is currently being discussed, which is to take the player on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season for a lower price, given that Rashford has just one year left on his contract with Manchester United.

The Catalan club will save Rashford’s wages this season by lowering the final price, while Manchester United will ensure Rashford becomes a permanent Barcelona player in 2027. A footballer would be perfectly fine with this option.

The newspaper continued. “There is no great urgency in this matter at Barcelona, as time is on their side, but the player hopes to resolve everything before the start of pre-season, as he does not want to return to Manchester United’s training ground at all.”

An amicable deal is likely to be reached if Manchester United reconsider their position and realize that the best option is to negotiate his departure now, for a lower fee or in parts.
