Iran says it has learned military lessons from past conflicts as Trump gives Tehran ‘two or three days’ to strike a deal with Washington.

Iran has warned that everyone a new argument It will bring “a lot of surprises” after US President Donald Trump gave Iran “two or three days” to reach a deal.

Meanwhile, the Vice President of the US, JD Vance, said that both sides have “made progress” in negotiations to end the war that has caused a global energy crisis.

At the same time, Chinese President Xi Jinping will host Russian President Vladimir Putin for talks expected to touch on energy and weapons cooperation, with the Iran-Ukraine conflict looming large on the agenda.

In Iran

• US woman released from prison: Iranian authorities released Shahab Dalili, an Iranian citizen and US citizen, after spending 10 years in Evin prison in Tehran, according to the Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA). The human rights organization said that Symbols has returned to America.
• The military warns of further retaliation: Iran’s military says it will “open new channels” against the US if Washington launches new threats. Military spokesman Mohammad Akraminia said Tehran would respond with “new weapons and new tactics” if clashes resume, Iran’s ISNA news agency reported.

Discussions of war

• Vance says the negotiations are progressing: The US vice president said talks with Iran were “moving forward”, while Washington warned it was ready to resume military operations if talks failed.
• G7 emphasizes economic cooperation: G7 finance ministers pledged to work more closely together to tackle war-related financial problems after talks in Paris also highlighted tensions between the US and its allies.

In the US

• Trump predicts a quick end to the conflict: The US president said Washington will end the war with Iran “very quickly”, saying that Tehran wants to reach an agreement. His comments came as the Republican-controlled Senate moves forward Abolition of Military Power which would require the approval of Congress to continue the US war against Iran.
• The investigation into the school strike continues: The head of the US military has refused to take responsibility for the strike on a school in Iran that killed 155 people on the first day of the war, saying a “complicated” investigation is still underway.
• Concerns are growing over another strike in the US: Journalist Alex Marquardt told Al Jazeera that President Donald Trump’s patience with Iran appears to be “wearing thin”, despite efforts led by the Gulf including Pakistan and Turkey. Mr Marquardt said talks had made little progress in recent weeks, raising the possibility that the US could resume hostilities if talks were to stall.

In Lebanon, Israel and Gaza

• Israeli strikes kill 19: An Israeli attack across southern Lebanon killed 19 people, according to Lebanon’s health ministry. Ten people, including three children and three women, were killed in Deir Qanun al-Nahr in the district of Tire, while nine others died in separate protests in other areas in the south.
• Hezbollah escalates attacks: The group said its fighters carried out 26 attacks against Israeli forces in southern Lebanon, including clashes near the town of Haddatha. The group also said it was targeting Israeli forces in several locations, including Racaf.
• The Israeli attack has caused a huge fire in Gaza City: Israeli airstrikes hit a house in Gaza’s Nassr neighborhood in the early hours of the morning, causing what witnesses described as a “huge fire”. Confirmed footage showed a public safety team responding to the scene, with no injuries reported.
• Medical facilities have arrived in Lebanon: Lebanon’s Ministry of Health has condemned the destruction of a medical center in al-Maashouq in the district of Tire, saying that the latest attack brings the number of hospitals affected by Israel in the war to 31.
• The Israeli military said on Wednesday in a Telegram post that the sirens heard in Malkia in the north of the country were a false alarm. It added that a link was launched to a “fake target” in the Kiryat Shmona and Margaliot areas.
