Ice Hockey World Championship: GB lost 5-0 to Hungary

Great Britain were beaten 5-0 by Hungary in the third match of the 2026 Ice Hockey World Championship in Switzerland.

The Hungarians took control early on at Zurich’s Swiss Life Arena thanks to goals from Christian Nagy and Doman Szongth.

Istvan Tarboks added a third early in the second period with a short-handed breakaway goal that prompted the Briton to replace Matt Robson with Ben Bowns in goal.

Liam Kirk, Josh Waller and Cade Nilsson all went close for GB but they couldn’t get past Hungary goaltender Bens Baliz.

Nagy added the fifth shortly after Nagy stopped the scoring before the Turboks scored his second on a two-on-one break.

Pete Russell’s GB side remain winless and next face Switzerland on Thursday (19:20 BST).
