After falling to Chelsea, Tottenham are haunted by the specter of relegation
Today, Tuesday evening, in the 37th round of the English Premier League at the Stamford Bridge stadium, “Chelsea” defeated the guest “Tottenham” with a score of 2-1.
Chelsea opened the scoring in the 17th minute with Enzo Fernandez’s powerful strike from outside the penalty area, and Andre Santos added to the Blues’ lead in the 66th minute, following Enzo’s magical pass from inside the area to fire the ball straight into the net.
Tottenham managed to reduce the deficit in the 73rd minute with Richarlison’s strike from inside the area, but the goal was not enough to save Spurs from defeat.
The result lifted Chelsea to 52 points and moved into eighth place, boosting their chances of qualifying for next season’s Europe, be it through the Europa League or the European Conference League.
While Tottenham remain 38 points clear in 17th place, two points behind West Ham in 18th, Spurs still need to win in the final round to avoid the drop or wait for West Ham to slip up.
Chelsea travel to the final to face Sunderland next Sunday, while Tottenham host Everton in their latest battle to avoid relegation.
