Southampton were kicked out of the game for spying on Middlesbrough

It was the morning of Thursday, May 7th.

Middlesbrough were at their Rockcliffe Park training ground for the game against Southampton 48 hours later.

The spy, a Southampton pundit, is said to have walked a couple of hundred yards down the road to the summit after stopping at the golf club.

Sources told the BBC that the accused was just standing there pointing at his mobile phone while wearing headphones.

Middlesbrough staff believe he may be broadcasting the session live via video call.

According to BBC sources, a member of staff at Middlesbrough was approached but the man has not been identified. He then quickly deleted some content from the phone before running to the golf club.

He ran into the bathroom, changed his clothes and quickly left the place.

A Middlesbrough photographer took pictures and compared it to a photograph on Southampton’s website. One of those pictures was made public last week.

Boro was furious and quickly reported it to the EFL.

The EFL sued Southampton By breaking two rules.

EFL Rule 3.4requiring clubs to act in good faith with each other; And

EFL Rule 127It prohibits any club from watching or attempting to practice for another club within 72 hours of the scheduled match between the two clubs.
