The Spanish federation is hitting Pique hard

The appeals committee of the Royal Spanish Football Federation has categorically rejected an appeal lodged by an Andorran club following the harsh punishments meted out to a number of club members following violent incidents at the end of the Andorra-Albacete match.

The referee’s report is “true until proven otherwise.”

The Diary de Andorra newspaper reports that the appeals committee considers the events mentioned in the match report to be established and therefore upholds all penalties without mitigation.

The appeals court rejected the club’s submissions, which included a number of victims, in addition to statements from a private escrow company, on the grounds that they could have been submitted in the original case and not at the appeal stage.

Furthermore, the court recognized the validity of the referee’s report, which is presumed to be correct and therefore presumed to be accurate unless proven otherwise.

According to the Court of Appeal, no evidence was presented for this.

Pique “performs the duties of the president”.

Another controversial point is the punishment applied to former Barcelona player Gerard Pique, who legally does not hold any official position in the club’s organizational structure.

Gerrard is the majority shareholder in Cosmos Holding, which he founded, which in turn owns the Andorran club, so although he does not hold any position under the federation’s regulations, Pique clearly carries out duties equivalent to those of a president.

The Royal Spanish Football Federation therefore upholds Pique’s suspension, rejecting the club’s arguments that he does not have official status.

The sanctions imposed on the other people involved, Jaume Nogues (Sporting Director), Ferran Velasica (Chairman) and Christian Lanzarote (Team Representative) were also not reduced, which is a heavy blow to the Pacific club.
