Famous Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reported on his Facebook page that Jose Mourinho has agreed to keep Antonio Pintos in the technical staff of Real Madrid in response to the express request of president Florentino Perez.

The decision comes as part of final arrangements for the Special One’s return to the Santiago Bernabeu, with an official announcement just days away, according to Spanish outlet AS.

Two-year contract with third option

According to the newspaper, Mourinho will sign a contract for two seasons, with the option of an automatic extension for a third season, if the Royal team wins the Spanish league title under his leadership.

He noted that the Portuguese coach informed “Benfica” president Rui Costa about the rejection of the extension offer, paving the way for him to move to the Spanish capital.

Statement after Peres’ re-appointment

The deal will be officially announced after Perez is re-appointed as club president on Sunday, May 24, with Mourinho effectively starting his job at the start of next June with full powers.
