The former coach of “Chelsea” Italian Enzo Maresca will lead “Manchester City” next season. The successor of the Spanish Pep Guardiola.
Mercato specialist Fabrizio Romano wrote in his “X” network microblog. “It has been decided… Enzo Maresca has reached a full verbal agreement with Manchester City.
“Manchester City” has always considered Mariska as the ideal candidate to replace Pep Guardiola.
He concluded: An agreement has been reached between the two sides and Maresca will sign an initial three-year deal with Manchester City.
In another context, the British newspaper “Mirror” wrote that Maresca wants to sign four Chelsea players after replacing Pep Guardiola.
He noted that Enzo Fernandez was well-respected at Chelsea since he signed for the Blues from Benfica in 2023, but he has been heavily linked with a move away from the club next summer and Mariska wants to use the issue to win a deal.
Maresca believes that Enzo will be an ideal replacement for Bernard Silva, who announced his departure from Manchester City.
With John Stones leaving the Etihad Stadium after 10 years at City, Maresca believes Chelsea defender Levi Colwell would be the right addition in the role.
Colwell’s deal is a big one considering he has missed virtually the entire 2025/26 season after suffering a serious ACL injury.
Joao Pedro is the third player Mariska wants to sign from Chelsea, as the Italian coach does not see the player as a replacement for Erling Holland, but he plans for the two to play together as the Brazilian can be on the wings or behind the main striker.
The fourth deal will be Cole Palmer, whom Mariska will try to return to “Manchester City”, especially since the English player performed at his best levels under the leadership of the Italian coach.
Palmer has suffered a significant drop in form in recent months and has been linked with a move to Manchester United.
