England’s Lottie Wood shot a one-under 69 in the final round of the Queen City Championship to win her second tournament on the LPGA Tour.
22 years old, K Co-opted his professional debut with a win at the Scottish Open Last July, he finished at 12-under 268 to win by two strokes over South Korea’s Hae-ran Ryu in Cincinnati.
Wade, whose rounds of 64 and 65 in the second and third rounds sealed his victory, held off Ryu, who shot a three-under 67 on the fourth day.
“Obviously very, very happy and grateful,” Wade said, reflecting on his past 12 months while playing collegiate golf for Florida State last year.
“It’s definitely, I think, a little sweeter than the first one because I didn’t really expect it. It’s because I saw how good everyone is there, so it’s good to win again.”
The victory earned him the $300,000 (£225,000) top prize on an important Sunday for English golf in the US, as Aaron Rae wins the US PGA Championship.
Wade started Sunday with a three-stroke lead over American Amanda Doherty, but she was briefly overtaken by Ryu who went five under on the front nine.
However, Ryu then dropped a shot at the 10th and had a double bogey at the par-four 13th to hand the lead back to Wade for the rest of the round.
American world number one Nellie Korda and Thailand’s number two Gino Thitikul, who between them have won the past three tournaments on tour, finished in a tie for eighth and seventh place respectively.
