Lottie Wade overcame a mid-round double-bogey to seal a second LPGA Tour title to complete a two-shot victory at the Kroger Queen City Championship in Ohio.
Wade took a three-shot lead into the final day at Maketewah Country Club and got off to a fast start after two birdies in his first five holes, only to double-bogey the par-four sixth to give HP to the chasing pack.
The Englishwoman took advantage of the next-five and canceled out a bogey on No. 17 with a birdie at the 13th, enough to hold off the chasing pack with a one-under 69 and register her first win of the season.
Wade finished at 12 over Harran Ryu, who was in contention with five birdies in her final-round 67 in a seven-hole stretch, while AIG Women’s Open champion Miu Yamashita finished third, three strokes behind China’s Ruoning Yin.
“Obviously very, very happy and grateful,” Wade said after his win. It’s definitely a bit sweeter than the first one (ISPS Handa Women’s Scottish Open), because I didn’t really expect it. It’s just that I saw how good everyone is out there, so it’s good to win again.”
Former world No. 1 Jin Yong Ko opened the leaderboard with a 5-under 65 to share fifth place with Amanda Doherty, while Gino Thitikul slipped to seventh after a weekend 69.
World No. 1 Nelly Korda shared eighth place after a three-under 67, with Lydia Koo at five under after a 71, as defending champion Charlie Hull finished tied for 40th with a two-under 68.
Leonie Harm Amundi birdied her final two holes to clinch a one-shot victory on home soil at the German Masters and a maiden Ladies’ European Tour title.
Harm shot a four-under 69 on the North Course at Green Eagle Golf Course to finish at 10 under, a shot clear of Cassandra Alexander of South Africa.
“I’m really glad I got it after 2022 comes around and I’m here with all the German fans,” Herm said. “A lot of people came to support and it means a lot.”
Overnight leader Alexandra Forsterling stumbled to a three-over 76 to drop into third with Chiara Nozza and Anna Huang.
