One of Scotland’s best and most beloved rugby union players, Scott Hastings, has died aged 61.
Hastings, along with his brother Gavin, was part of the last Scottish team to win the Grand Slam when they won the Five Nations in 1990.
Playing rugby for Watsonians in his hometown of Edinburgh, Hastings won 65 caps and toured twice with the Lions in 1989 and 1993.
After retiring from rugby in 1999, Hastings became a well-known rugby broadcaster as a commentator and researcher.
In 2022 Hastings reveals he has cancer.He could not treat non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, which was incurable.
He was also known for his charitable work for mental health, motor neurone disease and many other causes.
Inducted into the Scottish Rugby Hall of Fame last year, Hastings is regarded as one of Scotland’s greatest rugby union players.
