The world press noticed “Al Nasr” lost under the leadership of Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo. Yesterday, Saturday, in the 2nd final of the AFC Champions League against Japan’s Gamba Osaka.
Al-Alami went down with an unanswered goal at home and among the fans, losing the chance to win the continental title, on a very difficult night for the Madeira Rocket.
“Ronaldo is not looking forward to his first major title for Al-Nasr after their surprise 1-0 home defeat to Gamba Osaka.
He added: “Ronaldo’s side fell in front of 26,000 spectators at the King Saud University Stadium, although Al-Nasr were the hot favorites to win the equivalent of the Europa League.”
In the same context, the “ESPN” network wrote: “Cristiano Ronaldo remains in the hunt for his first major title since moving to Saudi Arabia, after a mistake in the final meters cost Doni a podium finish.”
He added: “It was a disappointing night for the hosts… After this defeat in Riyadh, Ronaldo has lost four finals since joining Al-Nasr in December 2022.”
The Spanish “AS” newspaper headlined. “Cristiano Ronaldo saddened after missing out on another title with Al-Nasr… What a picture to stir the emotions of the football world… Denise Humet’s goal was enough to destroy the continental club’s hopes, leaving the Portuguese star still in search of his first title with Al-Nasr.”
Meanwhile, Spanish newspaper Marca described what happened to Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo after Al-Nasr’s defeat as the “darkest day” for the Don since his move to Saudi Arabia’s stadiums.
Marca confirmed that the Al-Nasri captain left the stadium immediately after the final whistle without waiting for the crowning ceremony or to receive his silver medal, heading for the dressing rooms in a scene that reflected the extent of his post-match frustration.
The newspaper added that Ronaldo had one of his worst games for Al-Nasr as he failed to create any real threat and was not given any clear chances throughout the match, with sadness and brokenness evident on his features after losing the title.
