Former Prime Minister Sir John Major agreed with Matt Chorley on BBC Radio 5 Live that voters want quick and easy answers to complex problems. “I’m afraid we won’t, and it’s because nobody is telling us we can’t get that,” he said. “Governments are powerless, it’s going to say no. And the political work, it’s going to say no.”
