Barcelona have strongly denied reports that they have recently been linked with the signing of Moroccan winger Abdessamad Zelzouli from Real Betis, describing the news as “completely lacking any basis”.
According to Marca newspaper, Barcelona’s sporting planning for next season does not include signing the Betis player, indicating that the management is focusing on other priority documents to strengthen the squad and fight for titles.
Barcelona also denied having any priority or buy-back clause for the player, stressing that the previous agreement with Betis did not include any mechanism to allow his automatic return, and described the information as “completely inaccurate”.

On the other hand, Newcastle United and Aston Villa have stepped in to sign the Morocco international.
According to Diario de Sevilla, Newcastle have sent an envoy to Sevilla to keep a close eye on the player given Anthony Gordon’s impending departure, while Aston Villa have expressed an unofficial interest.
Although Betis’ Champions League qualification could increase the player’s value, the Andalusian club are open to serious offers and should complete a major sale this summer.
“Betis” prefers to wait until Zalzouli participates in the 2026 World Cup with the Moroccan national team, hoping that his market value will increase even more.
Barcelona maintain an excellent relationship with Betis and are closely monitoring negotiations, but will not be in the race to sign the player at this time.
