Dave Allen’s warning for Filip Horgevich: Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury, Oleksandr Usyk will all tell you – I’m a very good fighter | Boxing news

Dave Allen is a much-loved heavyweight almost-man on the British boxing scene.

A popular figure on social media, Allen has had significant success in his career. He took on Lucas Browne at the O2 Arena and recently dominated Johnny Fisher.

But he never broke into the division’s upper echelons, with defeats, most recently to Arslanbek Makhmudov, halting his momentum.

Allen said, “I know I have a lot of power but power is one thing, doing it at night is another. Even though I’ve had a good career, I’ve never done that yet.” Sky Sports.

He explained his popularity: “I’m just an average guy. Because of this and I don’t hide it – I don’t come here that I’m Mother Theresa and go to the gym six hours a day,” he said before checking himself: “Mother Teresa never went to the gym, did she? I’m not a liar or a liar and I’m human.”

Johnny Fisher hit himself with an uppercut during his fight against Dave Allen.

But he is adamant that there is more to him than just a cheerful personality.

“I’ve knocked them all out, Usyk, Klitschko, Fury, Joshua, I’ve knocked out all the top heavyweights of the last 10 years, 15 years. I’ve fought them all, won rounds from them all,” Allen said.

“They’ll all say you’re a good fighter dude, but I never put it all together at night.”

He is determined to change that when he fights top heavyweight contender Filip Horgovic at the Keepmot Stadium in his Doncaster hometown.

“I’m not going to go to Donnie just for the money, no way,” Allen said. “I think the best version of me is going to give Filip Horgwich all kinds of problems.”

“He’s always been a good fighter, he’s big, he’s tough, he’s strong. I don’t think he’s the biggest puncher in the world but he can punch a little bit. He cuts. That’s probably his biggest weakness. He cuts easily.

“There aren’t really too many glaring weaknesses. He’s a good fighter, he’s an all-rounder. He’s tough.”

But Allen declared: “I wasn’t afraid of him at all.

“He’s going to get a proper shock.”
