Is the US stopping its aid to Taiwan? | | Donald Trump News

Donald Trump won’t commit to arms sales on China trip.

A year ago, the United States-China relationship reached an all-time low when Donald Trump announced “Liberation Day”.

The US president relented when he met with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, a few months later.

And the White House offered more in preparation for Trump’s visit to Beijing this week.

It suspended $14bn worth of arms sales to Taiwan, which China claims as its territory.

But that didn’t stop Xi from calling Taiwan “a very important issue” in relations with the US.

Could a dispute over the region lead to tensions between Beijing and Washington?
