The Senegal Professional Football Association, which is responsible for organizing the Senegalese league in the first and second divisions, issued a strong official statement on Friday strongly condemning “the open and repeated use of magic and sorcery in the 26th and 27th rounds of the competition”.
These incidents went viral on social media, forcing the association to issue a statement in this regard.

The association said: “This behavior is completely against the values of professional sports. They have no place in high-level soccer practice. Sports performances should be based only on preparation, discipline, sportsmanship and integrity.”
He said: “The match observers’ reports and all available evidence will be forwarded to the Disciplinary Committee to determine responsibility and take appropriate action.”
The association also called on clubs to “immediately educate their coaches, players and administrators to prevent a recurrence of such incidents in stadiums”, referring to the phenomenon of “talismans and talismans” which has disrupted some local matches.
Notably, some Moroccan media accused Senegal and Al-Ahly Saudi Arabia goalkeeper Edouard Mendy of placing a towel near his goal during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final that “contains acts of witchcraft and sorcery.”
