Bernardo Self makes fun of “Real”. they couldn’t pass 3 or 4 balls

“Manchester City” captain Bernardo Silva’s farewell is approaching after 9 years of service to the club.

However, before he leaves, the Citizens still have a chance to win the Premier League title and an eighth FA Cup in their history tomorrow, Saturday, against Chelsea who, despite a disappointing season, have the chance to salvage their campaign and secure European qualification.

“The stadium was on fire and the atmosphere was amazing.”

Before this clash, Bernardo Silva gave an interview to The Athletic newspaper, where he talked about his career at the club, Pep Guardiola and one of the games he wants to relive, against Real Madrid.

When he saw a photo of his celebration in 2023’s crushing victory over Real Madrid, the game that saw City qualify for the Champions League final and then win the title, Bernardo Silva didn’t hesitate to say it was a match he wanted to relive.

“If I could choose one match, it would be this one,” he said. “The stadium was on fire, the atmosphere was amazing. For me personally, this match is probably one of the best memories I have with the club.”

“Because of the way they started the match and the pressure on them, they couldn’t pass 3 or 4 goals in a row. To create that feeling for a team like Real Madrid, the kings of Europe at the time, and to do it against them and win 4-0 at home was an unforgettable night for us.”

“We achieved the dream after many disappointments.”

He also added that he felt he had finally “achieved the dream” that they had been “looking forward to after so many disappointments”.

“Apart from the World Cup, winning the Champions League is the pinnacle of glory.”

Special thanks to Guardiola

The Portuguese also spoke to Pep Guardiola with deep words of gratitude. “He was one of the main reasons I stayed. The way he helped me, supported me, believed in me, even in the first 6 months when I didn’t play much, it was something special when it comes from a coach like him. After all the experiences we’ve had together, we’ve developed a personal relationship in which I know he’s very grateful for me.”

He thought about leaving, but doesn’t regret staying

The Portuguese also revealed that during the coronavirus pandemic, he was “not very happy with his personal life” and that he explored “other options and thought about leaving.” But he doesn’t regret his decision to stay

“I would miss the historic treble (2023), winning four titles in a row and many other great things. After winning the Champions League, I signed a new contract to stay for three more seasons. Since then, my goal has always been to see this contract through to the end.”
