The Premier League’s Key Match Incidents Panel confirmed three more video assistant referee errors, taking the total to 23 this season.
The panel recorded three errors involving punishment, two of which should have been awarded for holding the offence
EvertonThe only team not to have had a VAR intervention in their favor this season was a spot-kick wrongly disallowed against them Manchester City.
David Moyes’ side were leading 3-2 at Goodison Park when, from a corner, Bernardo Silva holds off Toffees midfielder Marlin Rohl – Invisibility of referee Michael Oliver.
VAR Paul Howard decided the holding occurred before the corner was taken, so he could not intervene to award a penalty.
“If it’s not given as a penalty, it’s for free from now on,” Moyes said after the game.
All five members of the KMI panel agreed with Moyes, saying, “There is a clean, sustained holding offense that gets the ball in play as corners are taken”.
City pulled one back in stoppage time through Jeremy Docu 3-3 draw.
This is the third time this season Everton A penalty should have been awarded on video review, while the others lost 1-0 at home Arsenal And lost 2-1 West Ham.
The panel also voted 5-0 that a penalty was awarded Bournemouth In their 29th minute 3-0 home win Over Crystal Palace Should have reversed.
Marcos Senesi went onto the field claiming contact from goalkeeper Dean Henderson and referee Rob Jones pointed to the spot. The VAR decided to uphold the Peter Banks decision.
“Henderson dropped the ball, reached for it and the Senesi dribbled away with minimal contact from the goalkeeper,” the panel said.
“The referee’s penalty call was incorrect and VAR should have intervened to recommend a review.”
