The French coach is trying to get his star out of the Madrid media frenzy
France coach Didier Deschamps has made a new decision regarding 2026 World Cup star Kylian Mbappe following the player’s recent injury at Real Madrid.
Mbappe is not having the best of days, given the public attack on him over a trip to Italy with his girlfriend just days before El Clasico, and even went so far as to demand the French star’s departure.
Mbappé’s relationship with his coach Alvaro Arbeloa is also not looking good, and this became known after the player launched an attack on the Spanish coach, before the latter in turn responded.
With Mbappe set to play at the 2026 World Cup with France in less than a month, Deschamps decided to reduce the forward’s media appearances during the tournament, fearing he would be distracted by questions from reporters about the tense situation at Real this season.
Deschamps was asked about dealing with Mbappe in the near future and he said: “There is no special case with Killian that needs to be dealt with. There is a specific situation and media obligation (at the World Cup).
“Mbappe will not be present at the press conference of every match. Since we will have two matches at three in the afternoon, I will bring one player, either Killian or someone else, the day before each match starts. The important thing is that Mbappe is physically ready on the pitch.”
About this yesterday, Thursday evening, the French coach called a press conference to talk about his selection in the World Championship roster.
Deschamps said about Curtin Tolisso’s absence from the list. “He is having a very great season. Just because he’s from Lyon or Thavin is from Lens doesn’t mean I won’t pick them. We have 5 players in midfield and they are also indispensable starters (in a midfield that includes two pivots, we would have an additional 6 options). there like the others.’
Deschamps opened the door to the possibility of leading Italy following his departure from France after the World Cup, saying: “I don’t rule anything out. It’s not on the agenda right now, but I’m available and everyone knows it. I’ll see what happens later.”
The French team is preparing to participate in the ninth group of the World Cup, which includes Senegal, Norway and Iraq.
