Barcelona have turned their attention to Chelsea’s Brazilian forward Joao Pedro to compensate for the expected departure of Poland’s Robert Lewandowski.
Barcelona looked at the player’s pulse in the middle of last month to determine his condition and fitness, with communication expected to resume after the FA Cup final.
Mundo Deportivo have reported that Barcelona consider Joao Pedro to be one of their best players at the moment and it will be difficult to let him leave for less than €100 million.
Despite Pedro’s desire to represent Barcelona, Chelsea will not make things easy after the Blues paid €65m to sign him from Brighton last summer.
Joao Pedro does not have a release clause in his contract and he also wants to play in the Champions League next season, which he will not be able to achieve with Chelsea.
People close to Pedro also say that the English club needs to sell some players due to the rules of financial fair play.
From next week, after deciding the season of “Chelsea”, it will be time to analyze the future of Pedro, but first, more serious changes are expected from “Barcelona”.
