I revealed earlier this year that Microsoft was working on it new Xbox controller which includes Wi-Fi to connect directly to the Xbox Cloud Gaming servers. Now it looks like the regulator has gone down, thanks to new images from Brazilian regulator Anatel.
Technoblog printed images today, showing off a new, smaller Xbox controller that looks similar to third-party options from 8BitDo and HyperX. The controller is made by Microsoft and includes 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth 5.3, and a USB-C port. There are also what appear to be some sort of buttons on top of the controller, as well as a D-Pad, bumpers, and triggers.
Both white and black colors are captured in the downloaded images, and it looks like the new controller will include its extended 500mAh battery. Microsoft’s existing Xbox controllers, except for the Elite series, use AA batteries or removable battery packs.
The new Xbox controller was it was originally planned for 2024along with the canceled Xbox Series X refresh. But this Xbox Cloud Gaming controller is different, and it was designed to support Microsoft’s expansion of cloud gaming with Game Pass. Microsoft is trying again free advertising opportunities to cloud gaming, and it is rumours plans to launch the Xbox Elite Controller Series 3 controller later this year.
