Egyptian player Hamza Abdel Karim took his club Barcelona into the semi-finals of the Youth Champions Cup today, Thursday, after a thrilling comeback against Tenerife.
Barcelona’s under-19 team lost the first leg by two unanswered goals, but bounced back to win the second leg with three unanswered goals at the Johan Cruyff Stadium.
Sport reported the highlights of the match as Barcelona came out with an attacking press and Hamza Abdel Karim almost found the back of the net early on, but his header went wide.
Barcelona continued to push the game in search of the first goal, while Tenerife maintained their defensive cohesion and managed to limit the home team’s threat, ending the first half in a goalless draw.
Everything changed in the second half as Barca managed to open the scoring in the 52nd minute through Pedro Villar.
Hamza Abdel Karim scored the second goal with a stunning header in the 61st minute, before Oscar Gestau managed to score Barca’s third goal.
The Egyptian Federation celebrated the goal of Hamza Abdel Karim and noted on its social network. “Following his hat-trick, he helped win the Spanish Youth League title… Hamza Abdel Karim continues to shine and scores a hat-trick in the Barcelona Youth Remontada to send the team into the semi-finals of the Champions Cup.”
