European Union fine against Barca
The Disciplinary Committee of the European Football Association (UEFA) has announced the sanctions applied to the quarter-final and semi-final matches of the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League.
Among those sanctions is the penalty set by the European Union Barcelona Due to the second leg of the quarter-final against Atletico Madrid on April 14 at the Wanda Metropolitano stadium.
Barcelona won 2-1 at home to Atlético, but this victory was not enough to make up for their 2-0 defeat in the first leg at the Camp Nou.
UEFA fined Barcelona 22,500 euros.
Of the total, €20,000 is allocated to players coming on late at the start of the second half, something the European Union insists on implementing, known as “late kick-off”.
An additional fine of 2,500 euros was also imposed for the use of fireworks in the stands of “Barcelona” fans.
It is noteworthy that Atletico Madrid, which defeated Barcelona, exited the European Championship, losing to Arsenal (2-1) on aggregate in the semi-final matches.
“Arsenal” will play the current champion “Paris Saint-Germain” in the final match on May 30.
