Dell and RAMageddon are bringing down the Alienware brand

I remember when Alienware refused to make a thin laptop – the company did not want to interfere with its construction. But today, Dell is slapping the Alienware name on a piece of hardware that feels like it’s been downgraded. It’s a part Ramageddonerror.

Even with the latest, entry-level Nvidia RTX 4050 graphics card, you’ll pay $1,299 and up. (In some markets the laptop will start with the RTX 3050 – a five-year-old chip!) The RTX 5050 will cost you $1,459 or more, and the mid-range RTX 5060 costs $1,849 and up.

For this kind of money you can easily get a strong script from a competing brand. Typically, a 5060 laptop can have a $1,400 MSRP or close to $1,100 retail. Dell’s RTX 5060 is priced in the same range as the RTX 5070.

Did I mention that the 15.3-inch, 1920 x 1200, 165Hz screen only displays 62.5 percent of the sRGB color gamut? Yes, sRGB, not the standard Adobe RGB or DCI-P3. Despite the absence of the Alienware 16 Aurora, the company’s first fall in the release of the most expensive machineachieved 100 percent of sRGB, and for less money. That 16-incher can have a 96 watt-hour battery and an RTX 5060 for $1,469.99, while the Alienware 15 costs $380 more for a smaller 70Wh battery and the same GPU.

You get one 10Gbps, 100W USB-C port, but it’s USB 3.2, not USB 4 or Thunderbolt. At least the Alienware 15 has an HDMI 2.1 port, some form of Ethernet, and the keyboard is also lit – but in white, not the RGB you’d expect from Alienware.

“The rising cost of RAM is affecting prices across the industry.” The Alienware 15 is priced low enough to be competitive in this regard,” Dell spokesman Frank Cestone said. Seasideadding that it plans to have regular sales on the Alienware 15.

Although RAM and storage prices helped Dell into a corner, however, could it have protected its gaming brand from being damaged by calling it Dell instead? I don’t know what “Alienware” stands for with the new Alienware 15. leaked Nvidia N1X-powered Alienware it’s very interesting.
