Despite being appointed in January, Carrick leads the way for the Premier League Manager of the Year award

The English Premier League has announced “Premier League, the list of contenders for the award of the best coach of the current season 2025-2026.

Six coaches were included in the list: “Manchester United” head coach Michael Carrick, who took office last January.

Carrick led Manchester United back to prominence after a wobbly spell under Portuguese manager Ruben Amorim and managed to return the team to the Champions League, finishing third in the Premier League.

Carrick is competing for this award with Pep Guardiola (Manchester City), Mikel Arteta (Arsenal), Andoni Iraola (Bournemouth), Keith Andrews (Brentford) and Regis Le Pre (Sunderland).

Arteta and Guardiola are battling it out for the Premier League title this season, with Arsenal leading the table just two points behind runners-up Manchester City with two rounds to go.

Meanwhile, Bournemouth, Brentford and Sunderland are fighting for a European seat next season.
