Google is rolling out a new AI-powered ‘contextual suggestions’ feature for Android users that recommends actions based on your daily activities, Android Authority reports. The feature is designed to predict what you’ll do based on your location and preferences — like letting music streaming apps dictate what you like when you get to the gym every time.
The concept was already available in the Play Services beta, but now Google seems to have expanded it to a more permanent way. Although Google has not announced that the project has been officially launched, some journalists Android Authority and 9 to 5 Google it seems to be available on Pixel 10 devices running Android 16, and it seems to be enabled by default.
We don’t know what the notifications will look like. Screenshots of the settings interface shared by the media show that users can control what data is accessed by the interface, such as stopping the use of your device’s location. The privacy policy section of the site says that this feature works “in a private location on your device,” and that your data is not shared with Google, apps, or other services.
“In this space, AI learns from past experiences and predicts what might be useful to you,” Google says in a statement. “For example, if you usually play sports on TV in your living room on Saturdays, your device can automatically prompt you to play at the right time.”
Like Android Authority text, this form shares similarities with a The Magic Cue Show which started with Google’s Pixel 10 lineupwhich keeps you informed of events such as addresses and numbers that you may want to include in programs and conversations. Google hasn’t said whether this feature will be widely available on non-Pixel Android phones, but a support page it says the feature requires Android 14 or higher to support audio and video playback.
We’ve reached out to Google for availability and region/device support. Currently, you can check if the theme suggestions are available on your Android phone by going to Settings > Google Services > All Services > More.
