Al-Ittihad arrived in Dammam without the Moroccan star

A press release has revealed why Moroccan Jeddah striker Youssef Al-Nusairi has been ruled out of his team’s match against Al-Etifaq in the Saudi Roshen League tomorrow, Thursday.

Al-Ittihad arrived in Dammam on Wednesday night, having arrived from Jeddah, with a delegation that included 22 players that did not include Al-Nusairi, Nigerian striker George Elenichina, Portuguese winger Roger Fernandez and midfielder Hamed Al-Ghamdi.

Private sources in Al-Riyadiya newspaper attributed the exclusion of Moroccan Youssef Al-Nusairi to a technical decision. Portuguese coach Sergio Conceicao.

Sources confirmed that Al-Nusairi, Elenikhina and Al-Ghamdi were sent off on technicals, while Fernandez was sent off due to lack of fitness following his latest injury.

In place of the Moroccan international striker, who joined the club earlier this year, Conseissa brought in Croatian defender Jan Karlo Simic, adding to the number of eight foreigners.

Al-Ittihad are competing with Al-Taawun and Al-Etifaq for fifth place, qualifying for the preliminary round of the elite AFC Champions League.

Al-Taawoun are 5th with 52 points, level with Al-Ittihad in sixth, while Al-Ittifaq are 7th with 49 points, while the Conceicao Battalion have the advantage of having played one match less than their rivals.
